Delicious Treats from Bath Food Shops

You are spoilt for choice on a trip around these Bath food shops, whatever your taste, bon viveur, chocoholic or just plain greedy!

Lovers of good food will be as enthralled by shopping in Bath England as fashionistas and home decorators. There is a fantastic range of speciality food shops to empty your wallet and fill your belly.

Sausage Shop - city of Bath

The Bath Sausage Shop in Green Street displays a tempting choice of more than 30 kinds of sausage, from the traditional to the unusual. Mail order available.

Fishworks - Bath England

Fishworks, their neighbour in Green Street is the only stand-alone wetfish shop in the city of Bath (their only competition is Waitrose). The window display is a tempting and colourful array of mainly Cornish fish and there’s no excuse if you don’t know how to cook it, as a cookery school is held here regularly.

Fine Cheese Company - city of Bath

The Fine Cheese Company in Walcot Street has long been one of my favourite Bath food shops and stocks a great selection of breads from Hobbs House Bakery, wonderful cheeses, obviously, and many foodie treats including wine and Rococo chocolates. A good place to find presents for Christmas, Valentine's Day etc.

Harvest - Bath England

Harvest in Walcot Street has notice boards in the entrance for advertising workshops, therapists, home shares etc. It then opens up into a rambling emporium of whole and health food. You can weigh up your own herbs and spices into paper bags – no more out-of-date jars languishing on the larder shelves.

Waitrose - city of Bath

Waitrose is in the Podium, and as part of the John Lewis Partnership, strictly speaking should not make it onto my list. But it is in the heart of the city and unique among Bath food shops in that you can pick up basic groceries as well as more indulgent buys. Besides, our nearest Waitrose is an hour’s drive away, so it is always a treat to come here and browse when we’re in Bath.

Minerva Chocolate - Bath England

Top quality chocolates are made from the very best ingredients here at Minerva Chocolate in the Abbey Churchyard, and set out in tempting displays for the chocoholic to drool over. There is also Champagne and delicious ice cream - definitely a place for treats and presents.

Farmers Market - Bath England

Farmers Market, Green Park Station. Bath was the first farmers market in the country and we all know how popular they have become. Held every Saturday from 9 am – get there early to get the pick of the crop.

The Real Meat Company - city of Bath

The Real Meat Company is in Bear Flat, up the Wells Road from the city centre, but worth a visit for their fresh meat reared according to their high standards of ‘welfare, purity and eating quality’. There is a range of ready meals prepared with their meat.
