The idea behind the site ...
I’m Judy Heminsley and I lived in the city of Bath England for 17 years.
When I first moved to the city of Bath I couldn’t believe my good fortune! Every day I saw parties of visitors who had travelled from all over the world at great expense, just to spend a few hours in this beautiful place, whereas I was there all the time!
Inevitably, though, as time passed I began to take the architecture, the parks and the shops for granted and they simply became the backdrop for everyday life.
For 12 years I ran a cleaning business in the city and had access to many of its most fabulous buildings - in Queen Square, the Circus and the Royal Crescent to name just a few. Unfortunately the stress of running the business and being responsible for the cleaning of these buildings detracted from my pleasure in them!
After all that time I felt I knew Bath and the surrounding area inside-out and was ready to move on to something new. After much planning, my partner Andy and I fulfilled a long-standing ambition to move to Cornwall.
What I wasn’t expecting was how much I would miss the city – I had no idea that I would crave the classical Bath stone terraces, even while I was exploring the spectacular Cornish coastline. Now I make sure I return regularly to Bath to visit family and friends, shop, visit my favourite cafes and follow my favourite walks through the streets and parks.
We also like to visit other towns and cities we don’t know - it is one of our favourite ways of taking a break from work and getting some fresh inspiration. We visit a new place for a few days and just wander around, taking in the local scene. It takes that time to get our bearings and find out where our favourite shops and restaurants are situated. Sometimes just before we are due to leave, we find something new and don’t have time to explore it.
It occurred to me that it would be a good idea to provide an insider’s guide to the city of Bath England to help visitors and new residents to quickly discover the best places for themselves.
If you do find somewhere you enjoy through this site, then please tell the owners about it – although this is a very new site, we are rising rapidly in the search engines and would like the places we feature to also hear about us from satisfied customers!
The site is growing daily, and if you have any suggestions for additions I would love to hear them. I hope you will enjoy your visits to Bath England as much as I do mine.
Judy
